STUDENT COMPLAINT PROCEDURE

 

1.      All complaints by students are to be made in writing to the Private Career College’s administration office.

2.      An appointment will be scheduled with the Private Career College’s principal to discuss the matter.

3.      The student will have an opportunity to make oral submissions of the complaint.  If the matter is not resolved following the first appointment, additional appointments may be made as necessary to resolve the matter.

4.      The student may have a person present with him/her at all stages of the proceedings.  The student may also appoint a person to make the oral submissions on his/her behalf.

5.      The principal will prepare a written record of all meetings and discussions, including the oral submissions and the college’s final decision issued.

6.      The principal will decide whether to dismiss the complaint or make a recommendation as to any further action in relation to the complaint.

7.      The college must deliver a decision in writing, including the reasons for the decision, no later than two months from the date the original written complaint was submitted by the student.

8.      All written and oral submissions of the complaint, the discussions and steps taken to resolve the matter as documented by the principal in writing, and the decision of the college will be filed in the student records.  The student records will be maintained at the college for three years from the date of the decision relating to the complaint.  The student will be given a copy of the documents relating to the complaint maintained by the college in his/her student records.

9.      The student will have 15 days to review the decision and meet with the principal to discuss the decision.  If the student is not satisfied with the college’s resolution of the complaint, the student may refer the matter to the Superintendent and shall include in his/her application to the Superintendent a copy of the records referred to in clause 7.
